Fan Season Preview: Tottenham Hotspur
The new 07/08 Premiership season is set to kick-off in less than a month’s time, and we’ve been asking some of the leading club fansites and blogs for their opinion and views on how their team will do.
The popular Tottenham Hotspur fansite which is run by Paul Smith, Spurs Odyssey have been kind enough to give us their thoughts on everything Spurs-related.
Your view of Spurs last season
At the start of the 2006-07 season, most Spurs fans would have been hoping for a trophy, and perhaps progress into the top four of the Premiership. To have finished fifth for the second year running was in my view little more than satisfactory, although I recognise that progress continues, with the Spurs Board investing in the forthcoming season, giving real hope of breaking into the top four at last.
The three Cup runs were enjoyable, but for me tainted with the disappointment of losing as soon as we met a decent team.
The best moments were clearly the home victory over Chelsea, being 3-1 up against them at half-time in the FA cup at Stamford Bridge, and that dramatic 4-3 win at Upton Park, when I laughed all the way home, and for a long while afterwards as well!
Your view on the season ahead for Spurs
I am very impressed with Spurs three signings to date (Darren Bent, Younes Kaboul and Gareth Bale) It looks like there are one or two more to come, one of which will hopefully fill the long-standing vacancy for a left sided midfield player!
With Berbatov and Defoe staying, and Robbie Keane signing an extended contract, Spurs will have a four-man strike force to be envied by any other Premiership team, including big-spending Liverpool.
Some fans will insist on a trophy to signify further progress, but I will happily forget about silverware for a coveted Champions League berth in 2008. I think that Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea will stay in the top four, but live in the hope that Spurs can shift Arsenal to one side - or should I say at least fifth place!
Who is your enemy and why?
Arsenal, and anything or anyone to do with them will always be the enemy of any Spurs fan. Sol Campbell will always be treated with venom whenever he encounters Spurs fans for the rest of his life His current team, Portsmouth still have pre-war facilities at the away end of their ground, which cannot be permitted to continue beyond this season. Chelsea (the club) and West Ham (the fans) also have a high standing in the Spurs hate list
Where you think you’ll finish in the Premiership this season?
I think we will make that fourth spot, at the expense of the gooners, which will make it a great season indeed!
Thanks again to Spurs Odyssey for their answers.

I heard that Martin Petrov should be done and dusted by the time they come back from South Africa.
